π‘ Lighting Basics β What Is Master / Slave?
Master/Slave mode is a simple but powerful feature that allows multiple identical lighting fixtures to sync together without needing a DMX controller. By setting one fixture as the βMasterβ, you can control an entire group by pointing a remote at a single unit β the rest automatically follow.
This is a great way to quickly set up synchronized lighting effects without DMX programming.
Important note: Master/Slave only works with the same model of fixture. If youβre mixing different types of lights and want them to work together, youβll need a DMX controller β weβll cover that in an upcoming post.
π‘ Fun Fact: The Chroma Cannons and IR-4s use the same LED chip, which means they can run in Master/Slave mode together. However, S4/S6 uplights do NOT sync with IR-4s in Master/Slave mode, so keep that in mind when planning your setup.
