Let’s talk SoundSwitch — should you grab the Control One or just use an Interface Cable?

💡 The Difference:

• Control One: A dedicated hardware controller with built-in DMX output. It gives hands-on control, but it is not standalone — it must be connected to a computer. Think of it as a custom MIDI controller.
• Interface Cable: A simple USB-to-DMX cable that connects your laptop directly to a DMX transmitter or straight into fixtures.

🚀 You CAN fully use SoundSwitch with just the Interface Cable!
Dave doesn’t even own a Control One — instead, he MIDI-mapped key functions directly to his DJ controller.

Using a DDJ-1000, he mapped blackout, strobe, static scenes, and effects to Deck 3 performance pads (which he never used for music).

This saved money, removed extra gear, and kept his DJ furniture clean. If space or budget is tight, MIDI-mapping your DJ controller is a killer SoundSwitch workaround.
